Collage For The Soul
In-Person Workshops
Sponsored by Bread of Life
“Collage for the Soul” offers opportunities for individuals to join with others to create personalized collages. Collage (the arranging of cut magazine images on mat board using scissors and glue) is an artistic way to explore a variety of introspective themes. This easy to learn and addictive art form is a tremendous way to give voice to the experiences and musings that so often go unspoken, and the results can be surprising & transforming. Creating in community and sharing your work with appreciative people greatly deepens your experience.
Although the format is based on the more formal SoulCollage® program, each person is free to create and use the collages in their own intuitive way. Artists can make cards for their own SoulCollage© deck or simply create collages for their own pleasure and self-reflection.
At each gathering the facilitator will provide a poetic prompt along a particular contemplative theme. After a brief meditative discussion, participants will begin the process of collecting images. Those who are new to collage will be invited to learn basic techniques at the start of the program (after the prompt), while those who are familiar can begin working right away. We will work in silence to support creativity. Participants will be invited to stop approximately 30-40 minutes before the closing to share their images and experiences in an open discussion based on positive sharing. You will come away with one or more unique collages that you can savor.
2023 SCHEDULE:
These last few years have been difficult ones. For 2023, we will focus our collage sessions on positive emotions to help offset some of the angst so many of us have been feeling. Studies have shown that experiencing emotions like amusement, awe, excitement, hope, and inspiration is vital for anyone who desires to live a healthy and happy life. These often-fleeting moments can be the ones that make up for all the hard work and struggles inherent in living in our chaotic world. Positive emotions can reduce stress and boost a general well-being, allowing you to cope more effectively and preserve your mental health. This leads to more emotional resilience, helping you to recover from the negative effects of stress more quickly.
So please join us for these intuitive collage sessions where we focus on specific emotions, amplifying their positive energy in community with others.
