Collage For The Soul

In-Person Workshops
Sponsored by Bread of Life

“Collage for the Soul” offers opportunities for individuals to join with others to create personalized collages. Collage (the arranging of cut magazine images on mat board using scissors and glue) is an artistic way to explore a variety of introspective themes.  This easy to learn and addictive art form is a tremendous way to give voice to the experiences and musings that so often go unspoken, and the results can be surprising & transforming. Creating in community and sharing your work with appreciative people greatly deepens your experience.

Although the format is based on the more formal SoulCollage® program, each person is free to create and use the collages in their own intuitive way. Artists can make cards for their own SoulCollage© deck or simply create collages for their own pleasure and self-reflection.

At each gathering the facilitator will provide a poetic prompt along a particular contemplative theme. After a brief meditative discussion, participants will begin the process of collecting images. Those who are new to collage will be invited to learn basic techniques at the start of the program (after the prompt), while those who are familiar can begin working right away. We will work in silence to support creativity. Participants will be invited to stop approximately 30-40 minutes before the closing to share their images and experiences in an open discussion based on positive sharing. You will come away with one or more unique collages that you can savor.

THEMES FOR 2022

This year we will be focusing on the spiritual meaning of the changing of the seasons. Our themes will begin the process of moving into the spring equinox, the summer solstice, the autumn equinox and finally, the winter solstice, producing collages with great personal meaning. The intuitive choice of images can bypass conscious awareness, allowing undiscovered possibilities to emerge.

September 17:
Gratitude and Grace – Autumnal Harvest

Just as nature goes through cycles, we too go through cycles of growth, harvest, death and rebirth. Join us as we celebrate the beginning of fall, a time of harvest, when we can acknowledge our own growth during the year as a natural part of our organic rhythms before we move into the cycle of winter hibernation and inner rest.

This is an invitation to explore the energetic journey we’ve been on this year, with its gifts and obstacles. We have been actively growing and changing throughout the year, and fall is a great time to take stock of how far we have come. The Autumnal Equinox celebrates the balance and interaction of light and dark, spiritually representing our movement from the active phases of our lives that came with spring and summer, into the more introspective darkness of winter when we become quiet and listen to what is trying to emerge within us.
